After a crazy two months in the office, followed by the heartache that was Monday night, heading off to get some R&R in the rural town of Birchwood out in Tennessee with some gals. Seeing as I’ve never been South of STL, this should be quite interesting. Oh, and there are rifles involved (hence the third “r”)as Amanda’s parent’s have quite the gun collection to shoot off on their land. Gulp.
And we’re having a crawfish broil. Or is it boil? Being a non-adventurous eater and one who doesn’t eat things that swim, this weekend will clearly be a lot of firsts…shooting guns, eating things from the ocean, drinking bourbon from mason jars…One things for sure, I cannot wait to start rural star-gazing on this four-day escape.
Last year, Mumford & Sons went on this epic ride through the South with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show via the rails. And thankfully, someone wised up and decided to film the tour and make a documentary out of it. It’s showing at this year’s SXSW.
And just watching these 3 minutes in this Big Easy Express trailer makes me oh so jealous Kelly got to see them in NOLA.
Growing up, I went to Missouri football games. And I knew Kansas as the school with the bird that did pretty well during the month of March. The fact they were terrible, century-old rivals never even occurred to me. Until I applied to Kansas and got in. And then decided to go there.
This rivalry was always something I looked forward to, mainly because so many of my friends went to Mizzou. The trash talking and emails during “Border Showdown” week is right up there on my favorite times of the year. And this year has proved no different, despite the fact I’m not on campus. Mizzou “released” this absurd video and the Jayhawks responded.
So ready for tomorrow!
Beware, this is a bit hard to stomach and sit through.
And the classy response.
